SIT Supports the Community We Live In

At SIT we believe in supporting the community we live in. But it's not simply a matter of giving money. That's easy. We invest our time and effort too.

The Heart & Stroke Foundation's Big Bike

SIT has heart! In May of each year, the Heart & Stroke Foundation invites organizations to ride the "big bike" to raise money for research. This past year (2012) 29 SIT staff members rode a 29 seat bike in support of cardiovascular health and stroke research. The event? In 2012 we're proud to announce that our team raised over $4,600 for the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Deposit Industry Charity Event (DICE) and Kids Help Phone

SIT organizes and sponsors the annual Deposit Industry Charity Event (DICE) that takes place each September at the Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Stouffville, Ontario. This networking opportunity for Canadian deposit brokers and issuers provides sponsorship opportunities with all net proceeds going to support the Kids Help Phone. DICE is a proud supporter of the Kids Help Phone and their professional and discreet counseling and support services that are offered to children throughout Canada. In its first year alone, DICE raised $27,212 for the Kids Help Phone.

Please note that the credit for raising these funds belongs to the deposit industry in Canada. SIT is only the organizer.

Stouffville Lions Club Family Gift Drive

Christmas is a wonderful time to relax and reflect, to appreciate family and friends, and to celebrate with staff. And it’s also a great time to think about those who are less fortunate. At SIT our employees contribute every year to help local families who are in need. We work with the local Lions Club to identify one or more local families we can help. But we don’t just hand over the money. The Lions Club Family Gift Drive provides us with the ages of the children, a basic description of the family’s likes and dislikes, and then we do the rest. We shop. We gift wrap. And when we’re done we give the Lions Club a call to pick up the gifts!

Supporting Breast Cancer Research and Local Hospitals

Dragon Boats, Bake Sales, and Raffles

Christmas isn't the only time of the year we give back to the community. Throughout the spring and summer months, SIT supports office wide events aimed at raising funds for important charitable causes. Causes that concern both our staff and our company. During these months, our staff host bake sales, organize raffles, and conduct other fundraising activities to support breast cancer research and local hospitals.

So if you’re walking through Palmer Park along Lake Scugog’s waterfront in June, you certainly won’t miss our Ilda’s SITting Ducks team at Port Perry’s annual Dragon Boat Festival.

Community Involvement

SIT believes it is important to help develop our local community in Stouffville. We do this by taking a leadership role in the annual Stouffville Professional and Technical Career Fair, and by supporting community events, like the Stouffville Business Recognition Awards, Mayor’s Round Table, Stouffville Music Mania, and more.

Creating Future Leaders Through Sports and Fun

Local sports teams help to develop the leadership skills children need to become responsible citizens and future leaders. Between passing the puck or running the bases, simple social interaction and a sense of sportsmanship will foster the necessary skills and confidence children need to develop and grow. These are the life skills that prepare our children for the world beyond their backyards.

SIT is a sponsor of our local peewee baseball team, the Stouffville Storm, and our local minor bantam hockey team, the Stouffville Clippers.
