DB Analyst Developer

Strategic Information Technology (SIT) Limited is one of Canada’s leading providers of enterprise software for financial institutions. Our flagship product, Portfolio Plus, is used by three of the top six banks in Canada as well as trust companies, credit unions, and other corporations. Our growth has created an excellent opportunity in our customer service division as a DB Analyst Developer.

DB Analyst Developer

You will be responsible for providing support for all database issues that affect the operation of Portfolio Plus. Your years of experience in dealing with relational database issues will help you succeed in this role. As a senior support resource you may be asked to help with database design, errors, tuning, training, and more.

Main Duties:

• Primary support for Client DB issues
• Monitor, analyze, and advise on client DB environment
• Mentoring and training of client and internal technical resource on DB and environment topics
• Development of preventative measures based on collection of trend analysis
• Development of internal systems and tools as specified

Requirements:

• Track record of problem solving and provable methodology
• Thorough knowledge of Progress OpenEdge® database utilities
• Linux/Unix and Windows Server familiarity
• Minimum of 3 years Progress programming
• Availability outside business hours as required
• Ability to travel as required (own transport)
• Ability to communicate clearly with staff and clients
• Self-motivated with willingness to learn and share knowledge

Nice to have:

• Progress OpenEdge® database tuning experience
• Progress OpenEdge® database analyst experience on minimum of V9 Progress, preferably Progress OpenEdge® 10
• Use of Linux/Unix and Windows Server scripting
• Programming experience with Portfolio Plus
• Good interpersonal skills and experience in training and supporting clients and co-workers
