Deposit Industry Charity Event

Wow. The deposit industry certainly showed its strength at the Deposit Industry Charity Event on September 27, 2011 at Sleepy Hollow golf course. Together we raised over $22,000 for Kids Help Phone, had a great day of golf, and got to socialize with brokers and issuers alike. Thanks to everyone who participated! As the organizer we were extremely pleased. We'll aim to make it even bigger next year.

Alex Melvin, from CANNEX, was especially generous when he said that CANNEX would donate another $5,000 to Kids Help Phone and challenged others to do the same.

Kids Help Phone: Some Lessons

Kids Help Phone shared a few stories with us about what kind of help they provide. The stories about cyberbullying really struck a cord with a number of attendees. We had no idea this was such a big issue in some Canadian homes. We're just glad to be helping Kids Help Phone to do something about it.

We also learned that sometimes our kids might not feel comfortable talking with us about certain subjects. Kids Help Phone suggests that we shouldn't get upset if this happens. But we should, instead, try to ensure that kids do know that there is a Kids Help Phone line (800-668-6868) where they can talk to a professional 24 hours a day seven days a week.
