Tax Shelter

An investment that offers some form of tax advantage to the investor.

T-Bill

Acronym for treasury bill.

Term

The length of time specified for the repayment of a loan or the duration of an investment.

Term Deposit

A time deposit (also known as a term deposit, particularly in Canada, Australia and New Zealand) is a money deposit at a bank that cannot be withdrawn (without penalty) for a certain "term" or period of time. When the term is over it can be withdrawn or it can be held for another term. Generally speaking, the longer the term the better the yield on the money. A certificate of deposit (CD) is a time-deposit product.

Term Loan

A loan arrangement where the periodic payments are interest only and the full principal amount comes due at the expiration of the term.

Transfer

The movement of funds or assets from one account to another.

Travelers Cheque

Cheques purchased at a bank or other financial institution in specific amounts that are widely accepted and are cancelable and can be re-issued in the event of loss or theft.
