Programmer/Analyst

As a Programmer/Analyst you will leverage your financial systems programming and analysis experience within SIT's Preferred Services Group to help support and enhance our financial software products.

Requirements

The ideal candidate has considerable knowledge and experience creating software applications that use relational databases. The candidate must be able to assess and document needs and requirements, and be familiar with the functions required to successfully turn a stated need into a fully functioning software solution.

This experience includes:

  • Record Locking
  • Record Scoping
  • Bracketing Techniques
  • Graphical User Interface Design
  • Portability Considerations
  • Performance Impact of Code
  • Unix and MS-Windows Programming

Financial background should include:

  • Understanding of accounting.
  • Understanding of basic banking including one or more of the following:
    • Loans & Mortgages
    • Investments
    • Term Deposits
    • Retail Banking
    • Accounting
  • Working with electronic interfaces

Key Responsibilities

  • Writing computer program code
  • Work with Business Analysts to analyze, enhance, troubleshoot and QA code changes and fixes to Portfolio Plus.
  • Become an expert on at least one of our major modules.
  • Exercise accountability for all programs that you create and/or enhance.

Qualifications

  • 5 or more years experience in a bank or financial institution creating and deploying enterprise wide financial applications.
  • 5 or more years experience in the Progress 4GL and relational database (or equivalent computer language/database).
  • Strong system problem determination, troubleshooting, and resolution skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Strong presentation, listening, and communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Strong team player with the ability to build relationships with financial application specialists and other departments at SIT.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Exposure to middleware (e.g. JMS) messaging and Enterprise Application Integration is a plus
